COOKEVILLE, TENNESSEE TO HOST THREE-DAY AMA MOTORCYCLE CLASSIC
Adrenaline-filled Motorcycle Racing to Bring Riders from Across the U.S.
The thrills and spills of American Motorcycle Association racing will soon be more than just on a hillside in Buffalo Valley, as Cookeville welcomes the inaugural Cookeville Motorcycle Classic, a family-oriented, three-day weekend filled with adrenaline, multiple competitions, and racers from across the country, Sept. 14-16, 2018.
Putnam County is no stranger to AMA events, as Middle Tennessee Dragway has served as home to both professional and amateur hillclimb competitions in recent years. The need for speed will now bring the sweet scent of racing fuel to downtown, as three days of AMA-sanctioned racing kicks off in Cookeville at the Putnam County Fairgrounds on Fri., Sept. 14, 7:00 p.m. CT with AMA Amateur, Pro and Hooligan Flat Track Racing.
On Sat., Sept 15, 12:00 noon CT, high-octane performance returns to Buffalo Valley for the AMA Pro National Championship Series Hillclimb. Closing out the test of nerve and talent on Sun., Sept. 16, 12:00 noon CT, amateur riders will take the spotlight in the AMA Amateur Tennessee State Championship and Northeaster Signature Series Hillclimb. Scaling the 550-ft dirt incline adjacent to this ever-popular Middle Tennessee race destination, riders will put their skills to the test for the state title.
“These are the elite class of professional and amateur racers in the U.S.,” said Gary Bagwell, CMC event coordinator. “A family-oriented group of serious riders looking to compete on great tracks in excellent venues, with an audience that appreciates high-torque, adrenaline filled entertainment.”
“We look forward to welcoming yet another major motorcycle event to Putnam County,” said Zach Ledbetter, vice president of visitor development, Cookeville-Putnam County Visitors’ Bureau. “Hosting events of this caliber is what our region is becoming known for. We have outstanding venues, high-level coordinators, and a welcoming community for these riders, their families and fans.”
The three-day display of talent and adventure is open to the public and will be presented by Boswell’s Country Roads Harley-Davidson, Miller Lite, Thunder Roads Magazine of Tennessee, and the Cookeville-Putnam County Visitors’ Bureau.
